Did you know that the Lloyd Loom weave was invented in 1917 to replace rattan and cane as a covering for prams and pushchairs?
Marshall Burns Lloyd wanted to preserve the sturdiness and intricacy of wicker but give the weave an enhanced style that was also easier and more convenient to make.
Once word spread that Lloyd Loom was a tighter, stronger and more stylish weave, many companies wanted to use it, including businesses that made baby carriages (or pushchairs).
